St Ives 2014

We have just spent the most wonderful week in St Ives.  Both children decided to come with us and we had some great family time - which we all enjoyed.  The weather got better and better with each day.  We watched seals and dolphins play in the water, and I met up with Noelle, Lesley and Carolyn - my 3 lovely St Ives buddies.  We had coffee and cake and visited a couple of galleries and got to know each others tastes a bit more.  I loved it.  A colleague thinks i'm strange to keep visiting this place time and time again ( I have to say that they have ever been here so what would they know!) but I think you can see from the photographs why I love it.  Apart from being stunningly beautiful, it is also my "happy place" - the place I feel totally at peace with the world.  We have had some brilliant family holidays here and I am hoping that this tradition will continue for ever.

It was the first time we had visited out of school holiday time too - the beaches were a lot less crowded.

We also ditched the tent in favour of a fabulous little apartment that had stunning views and a gorgeous balcony from my bedroom - which I really missed this morning.
Until next time St Ives xx

Holidays out of summer high season, that has to be so decadent. You hang around with pensioners and toddlers who are friendly souls, the places are less crowded and you can breathe. I am a teacher so I never had any experience of this except for the four years before my first one hit school age.
Your photos are lovely. I can smell the salt wind strand. Thank you.

Nothing wrong with having a happy place that you love to visit time and again, especially when it is as beautiful as St Ives is!! I expect that it is the happy place for a lot of people and would certainly feature on a list of happy places for me. So lovely to see your pictures, they are stunning and you capture the feel of the place very well indeed. xx

Not a doubt in my mind why you keep returning, how beautiful it is. We spent a few days there on one of our trips to England and I've never forgotten it. It was actually hot, we swam at Mousehole, hiked the coastal path and fell in love with St. Ives.

Lovely pictures of our favourite Cornish town. Our son has a holiday cottage there and we often pop down for a week out of season. Glad you had a great time. x

I'm glad our grandson has had the opportunity to spend a week every Summer in this idyllic place. I can understand why you would want to keep going back there. I would too if it wasn't so far away. Gorgeous photos.

Lovely pictures Diane. We were in St Ives last September and like you enjoyed the quietness of 'not the school holidays' having been a teacher all my life it's something I am getting used to. I know what you mean about your 'happy place' mine is Constantine Bay in Cornwall too. Anne x

Wow, every photo has a glory all its own! Especially love the green water glowing with light under that black boat. And the hollyhocks close up.

I'd love to be able to holiday during term time, when it's not only quieter but half the price and, as I'm jobless at the moment, I'm seriously considering switching to a non-school job (efforts so far have been thwarted by not having any experiences outside of education though!).

These photos are beautiful, the colours in the sea are amazing. St Ives has long been on my visit wish list but I am put off by knowing how busy / popular / touristy it is! Glad you had a great time.

The best time to see St Ives and Cornwall is out of the holiday season, it is a different place then. :)
